Self-hate is the greatest psychological detriment to an individual, and directly affects how they move throughout life. It is an occurrence that manifests within individuals due to a blatant or furtive acknowledgement that their race, ethnicity, culture, and history, is inferior to the dominant group’s. Being forced to move throughout a society that actively rejects non-whiteness, coupled with the realizations of a first class citizenship that will never be achieved, results in a crippling self-hate that is more destructive and damaging than any physical, legislative, or societal oppression an individual may ever face.
